By now you probably know about the Duke & Duke program at Duke.
This is the same program that got its first major NCAA tournament berth last year.
The Duke program is ranked 4th in the nation, is one of only four programs in the country that won a national championship last season and has a chance to be ranked in the top 10 for the first time since the 2010-11 season.
There are no other schools with a chance of winning a national title in the modern era.
This program is on track to be one of the most successful in the history of Duke Basketball.
Duke Basketball head coach John Calipari is one that I love and admire.
The guy is an innovator, he’s a visionary and he’s going to keep going forward.
But this year he is facing an uphill battle to get his program back to its level of success.
This will be Calipare’s third year in charge of the program.
Duke &: Duke has been a top-ranked program since the inception of the Duke Basketball program in 2010.
Since that time, Duke has produced some very good players on the national level.
They have won the National Championship in 2016 and 2017 and have a chance this season to do the same.
This team is loaded with talented athletes that are on the rise.
In 2018, the team went 14-0, which included wins over top-five teams such as UCLA and Florida State.
This was a team that was loaded with potential.
It has been five years since Calipar’s last winning season.
Caliparian has built the Duke team up into one of one of America’s most feared teams.
Duke is currently one of four teams in the world that is ranked in our Top 25 in the Associated Press poll.
Duke has won the ACC regular season title five times and is undefeated in the ACC Tournament, the NCAA Tournament, and the AP Poll.
Now that Duke is ranked No. 1 in the AP poll and Calipa’s team is ranked #6 in the poll, there is a lot to be excited about for Duke Basketball in 2019-20.
The 2017-18 season has been very good for Duke.
The team was ranked 2nd in the Big East Conference and finished 9-4.
This was a program that was built on a belief in itself and the program’s commitment to winning.
One of the biggest factors that helped Duke reach its potential was the talent on the roster.
Duke finished the season with 15 scholarship players on its roster.
After the departure of the 6th man of the year, the 5th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, it was a huge transition period for Duke as they went from being a team to being a collection of players.
They were able to bring back some key pieces, but they also lost some key players that had been a part of their success in the past.
While the team has had some turnover throughout the course of the season, it has also been solid.
For the first five games of the 2019-2020 season, Duke was ranked 3rd in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
In the first half of the game against Villanova, the Blue Devils were down by 14.
The next day, the ACC Conference championship was in the books.
On the back of the win over Villanova on December 11, 2019, Duke returned home and beat Villanova by 25 in double overtime.
That is a pretty impressive feat for a team like Duke.
Since the end of the 2016-17 season, the Duke program has had two coaches in Calipara, Mike Krzyzewski and Jim Boeheim.
Both of these coaches have led the Blue Devil basketball program to two consecutive conference titles.
Coach Caliparen also helped Duke land a number of top players, including two players that I’ve never heard of named Marcus Smart and K.J. McDaniels.
So while Duke basketball is still growing, there are some exciting young players that are making an impact right now.
With so many new faces coming into the program, the players that have been on the team for a while are beginning to come into their own.
Last season, Calipario brought in four new recruits to the team, all of whom have been instrumental in the Duke basketball program’s resurgence this season.
I can’t wait to see what happens this season and to see where they take the team in the next few years.
What do you think?
Do you think Caliparia can make Duke basketball one of his favorites?
What other players have you heard of that are coming up next year?
