ROCK HILL, SC, February 23, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – 3D Systems (NYSE: DDD) today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire Titan Additive LLC (Titan Robotics), a designer and manufacturer of widescreen industrial 3D printers. As a market leader in 3D granular polymer extrusion printing technology and the only manufacturer to offer hybrid tool head configurations, Titan Robotics provides solutions to its customers by developing specific processes using Titan’s unique additive manufacturing technology (AM). Through this acquisition, 3D Systems will expand the strength and breadth of its portfolio of AM polymer solutions to address new applications in markets such as foundries, consumer goods, service offices, transportation and motorsport, aerospace and defense and general manufacturing.

“As a leading partner in additive manufacturing solutions in industrial and healthcare markets, 3D Systems strives to meet the widest possible range of our customers’ AM needs,” said Dr. Jeffrey Graves, President and CEO of 3D Systems. . “With the addition of Titan Robotics’ unique extrusion technology, we will be able to meet our customers ’needs for large build volumes, high performance and improved productivity at a much lower cost. Thanks to the innovative modular approach of their printers and the ability to use both beads and yarns in an open architecture with widely available industrial polymer systems, we believe that the pace of industrial 3D printing will continue to accelerate. Combining the experience of Titan Robotics engineering and applications with a global reach of sales, service and application systems for 3D Systems, we are well positioned to support our customers across a range of our markets. ”

Titan Robotics is the only manufacturer to offer hybrid tool head configurations that include pellet extrusion, thread extrusion and spindle head for a precise finish. These customizable systems give customers tremendous flexibility to choose the best combo format to meet the needs of their application. The resulting solutions can deliver large industrial parts using heated platforms and chambers ranging in scale from 30 ′ ′ 30 ′ ′ x 45 ′ ′ to 50 ′ ′ x 50 ′ ′ x 72 ′ ′ with a print speed of up to 30,000mm per minute. As the customer’s scope expands in the future, Titan’s modular system can be easily upgraded to accommodate new materials and product configurations to best match their target performance and cost.

“The Titan Robotics team is excited to be part of a world-class organization in 3D Systems, as the Titan team, consisting of Clay Gillory, Bill Macy, Maddie Gillory and I, is committed to continuing Titan’s mission to change the traditional manufacturing landscape with Additive Production Solutions.” said Rahul Kasat, CEO of Titan Additive LLC. “We are delighted with the synergy this acquisition will expand the application of industrial 3D printing in a wide variety of industries as granule extrusion and hybrid manufacturing systems are becoming new standards for manufacturing applications.”

Direct 3D printing with granulate opens up a wide range of material options, with hundreds of commercially available formulations ranging from low hardness (soft) to high-performance and high-fill resins such as high-load carbon fiber and fiberglass. This allows customers not only to choose the perfect material for their application, but also to realize potential cost savings of up to 75%. The combination of fast production and short cycle, as well as lower costs make these solutions ideal for a variety of applications, including:

  • Casting in the sand

  • Tool processing including thermoforming, vacuum forming, sheet metal forming, composite equipment and others.

  • Fixtures and fittings for assembly and production operations

  • Finished parts such as an alternative to injection molding, or for high temperature requirements such as air ducts, hoods, brackets and structural components.

Titan Robotics was represented in this deal by Reynolds Advisory Partners.

3D Systems expects this transaction to be completed in April 2022. The company will comment on further investment growth in its upcoming earnings call, which is scheduled for Monday, February 28, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time. For more information, visit the company’s website.
