WASHINGTON, February 22, 2022 / PRNewswire / – Today NAFSA: Association of International Educators announced that five US universities and colleges have been selected to receive senators in 2022 Paul Simon Campus Internationalization Award. Named after the deceased senator Paul Simon with IllinoisThe NAFSA Simon Awards recognize outstanding innovations and advances in the internationalization of the campus identified by NAFSA as conscious efforts to integrate and integrate international, intercultural and global dimensions into the spirit and educational outcomes of its students. This year marks the 20thth the anniversary of the annual awards program, and today’s announcement marks the start of NAFSA’s annual study on how campus internationalization has evolved over that time.

The Simon Award for Full Internationalization features overall excellence in integrating international education in all aspects of universities and colleges. In 2022, the Simon Prize for Full Internationalization received:

The Senator Paul Simon Spotlight Award recognizes a specific program or initiative that promotes internationalization on campus. The winners of Senator Paul Simon’s Spotlight Award 2022 are:

- Freshman program abroad
- Northeastern University – Boston, Massachusetts
- Global Cooperative Education Program
- Northwestern University – Evanston, Illinois
- Global Engagement Studies Institute
