Electronics firm Box expands into larger Tamworth base

The supplier of electronic and technical goods is moving to a new home, seven times larger than its current premises in Birmingham.

Box, which sells consumer goods such as tablets, computers, printers and phones, will move from Minworth to a new 119,000-square-foot warehouse in St. Mauden Park in Tamworth after outgrowing its previous base.

The new premises provide the company with extensive new storage space, larger offices and open-plan conference rooms, as well as greater parking for employees and customers.

It also has space for an exhibition hall and a service point.

St Modwen Park occupies 32 acres next to the M42, and Box occupies the fourth and final phase of the building to be built there, and the relocation is due to be completed by summer.

The business was founded by CEO Mark Jordan in 1996 and now employs more than 100 people.

He said: “We are very proud of what we have been able to achieve from our base in the Ministry of Defense.

“However, we believe it is time to take advantage of our strong recent times and continue to grow in a building that better fits our goals and aspirations.

“The larger size of the building will allow us to create a better work environment for our employees, which will allow us to acquire and retain the best talent, and the space for new warehouse automation will provide greater efficiency so we can provide even better services to our loyal customers.

“We are very pleased to open an optimized service point with an adjoining showroom for selected electrical appliances.

“We believe this will give us more flexibility to serve the growing market of experienced online shoppers who want to avoid delivery times and costs by assembling themselves.

“This move represents an exciting time for the company and we can’t wait to welcome our employees, customers and suppliers to our new home when we officially relocate.”

Polly Trotton, managing director of St Modwen Logistics, added: “We are excited to offer Box quality warehouse space in our flagship fleet that will allow their business to continue to thrive.”
