Chandler, Ariza. – Chandler City and Chandler United School District (CUSD) invite the public to the annual Chandler Innovation Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 19th. A one-day hands-on event will be held in downtown Chandler, 178 E. Commonwealth Ave., between Buffalo and Boston streets along Commonwealth Avenue.
For many years, both organizations have held similar events for one month and are now joining forces to jointly inspire our youth for love or future careers in science, technology, engineering, math and innovation.
More than 65 exhibitors from CUSD schools and local technology companies will take part to demonstrate the fundamentals of science and the impact it has on your daily life. There will be many hands-on activities if engineers and other working professionals, students and innovators showcase new experiments and scientific concepts.
Event sponsor Northrop Grumman will launch a rocket model every hour, and their scientists and engineers will be showcasing about 30 interactive activities. Northrop Grumman will also have a passport for children to earn stamps when they complete every activity, including demonstrations and experiments from CUSD. After filling out the passport, they can exchange it for a prize.
The city’s science competition is back for Chandler K-12 students and educational organizations. The six winning teams will receive a $ 500 prize to be presented to their school’s science club or program for the most educational, creative and enthusiastic projects. The winners will be announced during the event and recognized at the upcoming City Council meeting.
The Chandler Innovation Fair is part of the Arizona Science Technology Festival, a nationwide movement to promote and celebrate science in our daily lives and recognize Arizona as a science and technology hub. This year’s Chandler Innovation Fair is sponsored by Northrop Grumman, Intel, Waste Management and First Things First.
Free parking for the event is available at Jonathan Garage (south of Buffalo Street, east of Arizona Avenue) or at Alexander Garage (north of Boston Street, east of Arizona Avenue).
