Newburyport Education Foundation seeks award nominations | News

The Newburyport Education Foundation is seeking nominations for individuals, organizations and companies for three annual awards:

The Ed Award for Outstanding Excellence

Cindy Johnson Volunteer Award

Business Partners Award

The Award for Outstanding Achievement in Education was established in 2004 and honors Ed Molina, who has made significant contributions to the quality of the city’s public schools through numerous projects and donations. This award is given annually to an individual or organization whose leadership, actions, and support have enhanced excellence in the city’s public schools. Last year’s laureate, Ryan Smith, was honored for his commitment to education in Newburyport thanks to support for many NEF programs, including a summer reading program, many years of coaching football, managing NEF quasi-funds and public relations. The Cindy Johnson Volunteer Award was established in 2016 and is presented annually to a person who has donated an extraordinary amount of hours, effort and support to the Newburyport Educational Foundation, as did Cindy Johnson’s namesake. The 2020 recipient, Casey Oreal, spent several years managing class donations for the annual NEFs Lighthouse auction, culminating in thousands of dollars in donations.

The Business Partner Award is given to a company that has made a significant contribution to the foundation and public schools. Our 2020 winner, The Institution for Savings, embodies what it means to be a true partner and champion of public schools as they not only collaborate with us on many specific campaigns and sponsorships, but also donate over $ 1 million to Newburyport public schools.

“The Ed Awards are truly one of my favorite evenings of the year,” said NEF Executive Director Carrie O’Donnell. “It allows us to recognize individuals and businesses who are dedicated and generous to ensure that Newburyport students receive the best education possible.”

Nominations for the three awards above can be submitted online at www.newburyportef.org/nef-awards (go to the “What We Do – Tributes – NEF Awards” tab) and will be accepted until April 1.
