Japanese Startup Receives Developer Grant to Build a Blockchain-based Electronic Voting System with Embedded User ID

ZUG, Switzerland, February 17, 2022 / PRNewswire / – PHI Inc. is the first company in Japan be awarded a “Free and Open Grant” from the Concordium Foundation. The grant was awarded for the development of an innovative electronic open voting project called Govote, which will run on the Concordium blockchain.

The PHI team is working on a business model for managing teams and projects through a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) in preparation for the Web3 era. The Govote project is part of PHI’s vision of DAO’s digital governance society. Govote can be used for general shareholders, creating distributed teams and online communities.

In search of a blockchain platform to meet the requirements of the next-generation voting system, the PHI team has found the Concordium blockchain, which implements authentication management. Confidentiality and anonymity are inherent in the Govote voting mechanism, which uses blockchain technology and zero-proof evidence to ensure voting rights, anonymity of voting and resistance to forgery of voting results.

Lone Fønss Schrøder, CEO of Concordium, commented:Online voting has long been talked about and gaining momentum, especially in the post-COVID era. Although the technology has been available for quite some time, there is still great concern about the permeability and vulnerability of these systems. Using a blockchain to overcome some problems is another option for using this technology. It is a great honor for us to work with the PHI team to make online voting a reality».

Takashi Okaco-founder of PHI commented “We are happy to be the first team Japan receive a grant from the Concordium Foundation. The PHI team will be a bridge between Web2.0 and Web3.0, which will make a big contribution to the development of the blockchain space. Behind the slow progress in the use of public blockchain by companies and public affairs there is a very high barrier to compliance with regulatory requirements such as AML / CFT. At Concordium, you can develop applications / services that address this issue using the identifier feature to ensure authentication and privacy. ”

Concordium, founded in the village Switzerland, defines a new matching category to facilitate blockchains. Concordium is a sustainable and proven science blockchain based on Web 3.0. This is the first decentralized blockchain with protocol-level identification that helps increase regulatory compliance. This level of identity ensures the confidentiality of transactions while maintaining regulatory accountability, and is therefore great for such uses.
