MDC’s Director of Changemaking Education and Social Innovation Sandra LaFleur to Participate in Upcoming SXSW EDU Conference

Miami, February 14, 2022 – Miami Dade College (MDC) Director of Education and Social Innovation, Sandra Lafler, will represent MDC at the prestigious SXSW EDU Conference (March 7-10 in Austin, Texas). It will be part of the panel Training change creators for global impact on Monday, March 7, from 15:30 to 16:30 on CT.

Lafler, one of three participants in the discussion, recruited to participate in the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI)join the president and moderator of the WPI Lori Leshin; Gita BangerDean-Founder, Department of Research, Innovation, Service and Experiential Learning (Rise) at Bellevue College, and Gundolf Grammel, Vice President / Dean for College Curriculum and Strategic Initiatives Agnes Scott. Together, they will discuss “our collective responsibility to find new ways to guide students to turn their ideas into action, going beyond the traditional, to carry out sustainable curriculum and culture reform that better serves students and the world”.

LaFleur focuses on the college’s ecosystem, making changes across eight campuses for both curriculum and collaborative curricula. Her extensive professional experience in strategy development, operational planning, organizational growth and change management, and program development, innovation, and research positions her as a leader in supporting and implementing high-performing practices to improve student learning and engagement. She has been working at MDC since 2016.
