In conjunction with UAE Innovates 2022, the Dubai Electric and Water Innovation Center (DEWA) has launched the Cleantech Hackathon to encourage innovators, students and professionals to compete in the latest innovations in energy, urban environment, digital transformation and sustainable living. DEWA encourages innovators to participate in the hackathon in order to build a sustainable future and win four valuable awards for each of the award subcategories.
“At DEWA, our vision is guided by the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and President of Dubai, who said:“ Innovation is not an option but a necessity. It’s not a culture, it’s a style of work, and governments and companies that don’t innovate run the risk of losing their competitiveness and falling far behind. ” We provide a positive and stimulating environment for innovation, especially in clean and renewable energy, to make Dubai a global model of clean energy and green economy, and achieve the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy to 2050 and Dubai Zero Emission Strategy to 2050 to provide 100 % of energy production capacity from clean energy sources by 2050.
We are also committed to implementing the Dubai City Master Plan to 2040, which outlines a comprehensive urban development roadmap based on sustainable development to make Dubai the best place to live in the world. We are pleased to support UAE Innovates to achieve His Highness’s vision to make this event a key destination for innovators in the region, promote social activism and innovative initiatives that serve the UAE’s needs for the next 50 years, ”said His Said Mohammed Al. Thayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.
“The Innovation Center brings together Dubai’s experiment to predict and shape the future of energy and water within an integrated system based on Emirati caliber. It is in addition to attracting the best regional and international talent, making it an international platform for innovation in renewables and clean energy. Through the Innovation Center, DEWA seeks to raise awareness of sustainability, as well as strengthen and develop the next generation of innovators in the field of clean and renewable energy. It raises awareness of sustainability, strengthens and develops the capabilities of the next generation of innovators and experts in the field of clean energy technologies, focusing on national talents and promoting them, “said Eng.
