CEA Members Lobby Congress on Behalf of Students, Education Funding – Connecticut Education Association

POSITIONS OPEN FOR NOMINATION

The CEA may be eligible to elect up to 30 state delegates to the NEA RA in 2020. Here are the descriptions of open positions:

Category 1 At-large / State Delegat: fifteen posts (term: two years)

Category 1 Concerned features / ethnic minorities: four positions (term: 2

years)

These categories must have active classroom teachers (AC-1 membership type) or NEA Life members (AC-7 membership type) in local affiliates eligible for these positions.

Elementary teachers: one position (term: 1 year)

Only beginning teachers with SEA and NEA membership are eligible for this position.

Membership units: nine positions from certain membership units (term: one year)

Only active members (AC-1 Membership Type) or NEA Life (AC-7 Membership Type) members who teach at a local CEA branch in one of the seventeen membership units can be nominated for these positions. Nine open blocks include E, F, H, J, K, L, M, P & Q.

Block E:

Bethel, Brookfield, CEA New Milford, Easton, NEA Danbury, New Fairfield, Sherman

Block F:

Amity, Bethany, Branford, Derby, East Haven, Milford, Orange, Oxford, Seymour, Woodbridge

Block H:

ACES, Cheshire, Hamden, North Haven, Wallingford, Wolcott

Block J:

Berlin, Farmington, Newington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington, Thomston, Weathersfield

Block K:

Cromwell, East Hartford, Glastonbury, Manchester, Rocky Hill

Block L:

Bloomfield, CREC, East Windsor, Enfield, South Windsor, Suffield, Windsor

Block M:

Avon, Canton, East Granby, Granby, Simsbury, West Hartford, Windsor Locks

Block P:

East Lime, Groton, Ledard, Montville, New London, North Stoning, Preston, LEARN Project, Stonington, Valentine, Waterford

Block Q:

Clinton, East Head, East Hampton, Guilford, Hadam Killingworth, Madison, Old Sabrook, Regional 4, Regional 13, Regional 18, Portland, Westbrook

Category 2 At-Large: one post (urgent intermediate post opened this year)

Nominees for Category 2 At-Large positions must be active members (AC-1 membership type) in management / administration positions or NEA Life members (AC-7 membership type) who no longer teach, but only if they are not. NEA – Retirees. (NEA Life membership is a special category terminated in 1973.) Members with active membership who have not terminated their teaching activities are eligible for category 2. Lifetime NEA members (RT-7 membership type) or annual retired members (type membership) RT-8) NOT SUBMISSION TO CATEGORY 2
